Otherwise, seems like a good cable, I don't mind keeping it for other uses. So, if you own a JVC miniDV camera, just a warning it probably won't work. I went ahead and got the link along with the cassette tapes and cleaning tape, all together. The cable didn't fit my camera, as I had hoped.
Maybe someday camcorders will just be packaged with them so we don't have to buy them separately. Works great.
Other than that, a very good purchase. I needed a new Firewire cable to replace the Apple brand one I had for about 3 years to connect my video camera to my computer. This cable works well, but the braided metal cable covered with plastic is rather stiff, and it seems to put undue pressure on the port on my camera.
To pay more for this cable would be foolish. Its Belkin Brand which is a big player in the cable industry. I use this product to connect my video camera to my PC and the cable works great. when transfering the data to my PC I had no dropped frames or anything (of course alot of that depends on your pc too).
Older pcs may require Firewire cards, too. we are using this to transfer our video from our handycam. It gives superior results to usb transfer, in our experience.
